What is a postpartum doula?
Doula is a greek word that means "one who serves". A postpartum doula comes to your home after the birth of your baby to help support you during this adjustment period. They offer non-medical support and companionship. Doulas assist in newborn care, sibling adjustment, offer breastfeeding support, do light housework and prepare light meals. Postpartum doulas often work with premature babies, multiples, adoptive families or families who have had a prior experience with postpartum depression. Postpartum doulas can also work overnight to assist the new parents and give them some much needed rest.
Doulas offer evidence based information on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from childbirth and other issues during the postpartum period. They are an extra set of eyes, ears and hands to help you and your family get off to a great start with your newborn.
Postpartum doulas are the new baby manual!

A little bit about me...
I was born and raised in Marietta, GA. I am a wife, friend, daughter, sister, niece and cousin. My husband and I are old friends. We are approaching our sixth anniversary of wedded bliss. I was blessed to have married a man who is my best friend and courageous supporter. We live in Marietta with our cat and chickens. You can often find me having tea with friends, eating dinner with our extended family, working in the yard or at the local farmer's market. I enjoy sewing and tending to our flock of chickens. And of course I love having a baby on my hip or playing pretend whenever I can! I love spending time with our friends and their families.
I consider it an honor and a blessing to work in your home. I can't think of a better occupation than helping families get off to a great start with their little ones!
How long have you been a doula?
Doula means "one who serves". When I look through my life, more often than not, I have chosen the role of one who serves or supports others. It turns out that I have been a doula all of my life! Nurturing and caring for those around me is something that comes naturally for me. My friends will tell you this is something I do best.I love family life and was raised with a house full of children that weren't always related to me. My Dad was the neighborhood "baby whisperer" and children have always been drawn to my mother. They taught me well. They instilled a respect and love for people of all ages deep in my heart.
I have worked with children and families for a long time in positions ranging from nanny, Sunday school teacher, and teacher's assistant. Now I am thrilled to help support families as they welcome new life into their homes!
